Wattpad data breach exposes account info for millions of users

Allegedly stolen Wattpad database was on sale on hacker forums for $100,000 containing around 270 million records. The bleeping computer made this discovery after rumors of such sale surfaced since July 7th, after an anonymous tip that said that the data was being sold by Shiny Hunters, a group known for selling company databases acquired in data breaches. The database contained user names, names, hashed passwords, email addresses, and general geographic location. Although no financial information has been reportedly compromised, the database is now up for everyone to download, free of cost by an anonymous user. This story is still under development, and Wattpad is yet to release a statement.
