National Students' Union of India (NSUI) filed a police complaint accusing Delhi University (DU) of apparently leaking the data of lakhs of students online. Akshay Lakra, president of the Delhi unit of the NSUI, and former DU students' union president Arun Hooda approached police with the complaint. In their statement, they said, "this data leak includes information like mobile number, Aadhar card number, bank account number, mode of transportation taken by students from college to home, which is readily available on the Delhi University website. Moreover, this breach can endanger the lives of students in DU". Students also objected to uploading their admit cards containing personal information on the Delhi University website claiming that access to their admit cards is so easy that anyone aware of their roll numbers and the gateway password can download it. Furthermore, Hooda surrendered his LLB degree to the dean of examination Vinay Gupta in protest after the DU ultimately failed to hold a mock test due to some technical issues. Besides all these protests from students and teachers, the university decided to conduct online exams for final-year students from July 10th.
